Tango Always Hopes, Always Perseveres

As Argentine tango leads we are interpreters! We must transfer the thought (or feeling) in the music into an expression of movement for our partner with a comparable meaning. Techniques of interpretation include:

The most obvious way from music to movement. It happens by default, since literal transliteration of music into movement is virtually impossible.

Dividing a long musical sentence into meaningful “chunks” and interpreting them without a loss of meaning of the whole sentence. This technique is safest/easiest on the dance floor.

Music may use circumlocutions (long roundabout ways of saying something which should have been short). Explain to your partner what you hear using more concise movements.
